The Mustang softball team traveled to Mayer on Saturday for two games vs. Section 4 competitors Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City (ACGC) and host team Mayer Lutheran.
Game 1 vs. ACGC had the Mustangs starting a bit slow, but in the third inning they exploded for 10 runs. 7th grade pitcher Olivia Parker struck out 8 and Jayzryn Thompson and Kennedy Burquest tallied three hits each as the Mustangs cruised to a 12-2 win.
In the 2nd game of the day, the Mustangs faced a tough opponent in Mayer Lutheran. The Mustangs flexed their muscles at the plate with a 2-run home run from Sophomore Kennedy Burquest and a grand slam homerun from Senior Teighan Thompson. That was plenty for Sophomore pitcher Katie Eickman as she and the Mustang defense kept the Crusader’s off the scoreboard into the 5th inning. The final score, Mustangs 7, Mayer Lutheran 2.
The Mustangs improved their record to 10 wins, 1 loss.
